Reunion 2000

Planning is in progress and going well. 

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn, SunSpree Resort located on the Ocean front with Ocean Front Rooms. Room's are $67.00 per night and Suites are $87.00 per night, plus a 10% tax and $1.00 per night lodging tax .

The reunion will be from the 1st of October (Check-in) till the 5th October (Check-out). The Hospitality room will be open and your package ready. We hope to have our same friendly guy behind the bar. We decided to have it over a weekend for those who may want to come early and airfare my be cheaper over the weekend. The hotel rates are the same a few days early or staying a few days longer.

Tours - we have lined up some great tours for the reunion, Monday October 2nd Colonial Williamsburg, and Jamestown; October 3rd Virginia Beach tour, Air & Space Center, Fort Monroe Casement Museum, Lunch at the Fort Monroe Officer"s Club; October 4th Virginia Marine Science Center, The Life Saving Museum of Virginia, Lunch included.

Sunday 1st October Welcome Cocktail Party 7 to 9 PM, Monday a dinner after we return from Williamsburg depending on how many sign up. Our Banquet will be on Thursday night with entertainment and a DJ - this is not firm yet. We are working hard to keep the cost reasonable so more of you will come.

Just a note to say thank you for all the donations and dues I have received, your response was more than I ever expected. Give yourself a pat on the back.

I am sorry to inform you that we have lost another shipmate, James B. Sutherland died April 21,1999.

We also lost Jack L. Patterson and his wife Boots, Boots passed away on September 29, 1998 and Jack passed on 27 December 1998. This word was from his son in law, who apologized for not letting us know sooner.

Received a card from Mrs. James Craven, she is doing fine, but will not attend our reunion.

Shipmate Larry Stahl, the first Executive Officer, passed away 7 April 2000

Many thanks to all those who keep me up to date on our shipmates around the country.

For those of you who may be coming earlier, the Neptune Festival ends the Sunday we start and all the sand sculptures will be on display for judging and photographs. It's something to see and a once in a lifetime event.

Tommy and I have been discussing the thought of not sending reunion packages to those of you who by postcard informed us you were not coming to the reunion, if you have second thoughts please let me know.
